Discover our story. A lot of history has been written at the place where The Slaak Rotterdam is now located. At this location two newspapers were published here: in 1920 the newspaper “Voorwaarts” and from 1945 “Het Vrije Volk”. The current building was built in the 1950s, designed by architect Jo Vegter, including a pressroom, (editorial) offices, a book shop and a travel agency. Later, the building served other functions such as a municipal office, exhibition space, but also as a squat and anti-squat building. Ten years ago this historic building where our hotel resides was declared a national monument part of the heritage of rebuilding the city Rotterdam. The Slaak Rotterdam and Restaurant & Bar Didot34 are a hotel with a story. We are happy to welcome everyone back to this authentic location to get together, to celebrate and to inspire.

Restaurant & Bar Didot34 takes away the borders of co-working, breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks with the ‘fourth meal’ concept: small international dishes you can order throughout the day. Didot34 is a vibrant destination with an energetic program that encourages the social scene and celebrates the 50’s.
